The Harvard iSites platform is now ten years old and is facing some challenges that need to be addressed:
- Aging technology and infrastructure - more modular, agile development will improve how we deliver tools and services
- Custom platform - an open-source or commercial platform will maximize collaborative development options and innovations
As a result, Harvard University is moving towards other solutions that will meet the academic and administrative needs of schools and departments now and into the future. Our goal is to retire iSites in the summer of 2016.
On the academic side, Canvas, a learning management system, is replacing Course iSites. You can find more information at the Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) website about this strategic initiative.
Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) currently manages a number of web platforms that provide web content management for administrative website needs. Academic Technology Services will manage and support Standard iSites migration over the next two years. Our objective is to partner with you for a successful transition to your new website platform.
